Before you go
Check the mountain forecast every morning and tell someone your plan for the day. Snow can lie on the Low Tatras crest into June, and afternoon storms are common in summer.
On the ridges
There is no shelter from lightning on the high crest: if a storm builds, go down. Carry enough water; springs on the ridges can dry up in late summer.
In an emergency
Call mountain rescue on 18 300, or 112. Give your position from your phone’s map and the nearest signpost.
