This is where the Heroes’ Trail climbs above the trees for good. From Donovaly a long, steady ascent leads over Hadlanka and Kozí chrbát to the main ridge of the Low Tatras.

Above Veľká Chochuľa the views open in every direction: the Great Fatra behind you, the High Tatras to the north. The Ďurková shelter, a simple mountain hut, waits just below the crest.
