The morning starts with the climb to Záruby, at 768 metres the highest point of the Little Carpathians. Just beyond it the ruin of Ostrý Kameň stands on a rock above the forest.
The rest of the day is a long, rolling descent past the cottages of Sokolské chaty and the Mihalinová shelter. Dobrá Voda, with its own castle ruin above the houses, is the first real village since Bratislava.
